Changing channels the other day & came across on a Seattle tv news broadcast a report of Orcas swimming, jumping, & tail slapping in Puget Sound. Not only were there Orcas in various parts of the sound but even in the waters off west Seattle !!! Whales must be following salmon. It amazes me these big mammals can adjust to the ever growing human population growth(Washington & BC) & just trying not to get hit by tugs ferries ships submarines (sub base in Washington) or injured by vessel's props... People it seems just always get amazed by watching Orcas as they do seeing a gigantic rainbow. Also talking about tv news; the other day CTV or Global had a story on salmon numbers but just caught the tail end of the report.

Happens every year. When the main runs of chum enter Puget Sound the Orcas follow them in feeding on them. Awesome sight when they're on the feed. There is another pod that comes in later and thins out the ranks of the seals and sea lions.
