It is an amazing catch, but why kill something so great? ???
Can't they just measure it, take pictures and release it?

It is easier to kill it first and post it as many as you want I guess. I have to be honest, I might kill that fish.

Why kill it, it's not going to taste good no matter what you do! An excellent quality blow up photo with a country style frame is an awesome trophy, why kill it?

Great fish.
I wouldn't kill it, but I don't have a problem with this guy keeping his trophy.

1. iIt's not from a limited resource
2. it's not an endangered wild species
3. there is very little probability of him or anyone else re-catching it
4. it will have spawned many times already

Most people don't realize how realistic a fibreglass mount can be. In fact many mounts of fish that have high oil content cannot use the actual head since the paint will lift within a few years.

I wouldn't kill it either!

I wouldn't kill it either.
This fish lived this long to be this HUGE, it deserves to be released and live longer and produce more of the same off-springs.
Out of respect for being so smart and not taking any lures all this time from all anglers in its life time, I would gently release this fish; of course after taking several photos and kissing it on the lips :)
