hooked into a nice awsome fish today, swore it was not a pink. Went half way accross the river before I gained some line back. Finally get the fish in and it's a the biggest pink I've ever caught, pushing 8lbs. However it was snagged in the tail.  >:( So a gentle release it was.

Oh well, brought home a nice doe for the bbq and did a nice long line release on  another all in the hour I was out.

Landed a Jack Spring about 5lb. Using the usual Pink gears.
Not bad for 20 min of effort before work.
Sad, but No Pinks to be seens.

My buddy Bill went 2 for 7, and I managed to land my first one of the season (doe) on the South Arm this morning.
I also hooked a small coho and a bullhead :P
Great day to be on the water.

The Whonnock test nets got significantly less yesterday than they did in previous days. It could be slowing down or another push could be on its way. Guess we'll just see.

Rushed to south arm after work today hoping to play with some pinks.  Got my wish.  Connected with about 6 fish.  All popped off or was released at the waters edge.  Fished from 6 to 8pm.  Unfortunately it got a little crowded and I got a little upset.  Time to start exploring for other locations again.

Listened to a buddy and headed to the Fraser below Alex Fraser bridge this afternoon.

Watched a real low key guy catch fish after fish using an interesting method.  Cast out to a slot in the river with a 2 inch buz bomb, slowly retrieve like a spoon and bang.  He caught his 4 quickly, then released another 3-5.

I emulated his retrieve and low and behold hooked up 2, which got off before they were landed.  The next a 3 lb doe yielded both fish for the bbq and roe for later.  Had to leave for chores but now I have another trick to show others.

Past 50 years young but still learning ;8-}

Was out flyfishing the lower Fraser from 3 until twilight was good fishing on fly and gear. A school of male humpies came through and they were brutes!! Saw some guys hook into some and a couple were landed, they must have been pushing 7-8lbs and put up a real battle before they could be brought in. One took my fly and if I didn't know any better I thought I had hooked into a spring. I felt the hit on the fly then the end of my line got really heavy then the heavy head shakes started. It took off and snap there goes my 8lb leader. Got 3 to the beach for my time today.
