i have the 8'6" 3wt and the 10' 7 wt and i love them both. Good sensitivity and enough backbone to get good distance out of your cast. Not only that but their pretty as hell too ;D

It's ok. I have an 8wt. in that rod. I don't love it and I don't hate it. Sometimes it feels a little heavy to cast but as far as a fighting rod goes it is very predictable and I like it a lot. I am with nuggy though if you can find a good condition used RPL or VPS (i have a vps too) go with that instead!

is it the rod or reel you find heavy? I got a light weight lampson. my rod is a 9ft 8wt too.what are your thought on the reel?
thanks for the info guys. :)

I'm running a lamson velocity on mine, it's definitely the rod that feels heavy. However, that's just my own feeling on it. Everybody's body is different and it doesn't help that I've got a casting arm shoulder injury....biased maybe? :-\
In any case, it's fine ....and the fact that it just costs an arm and not an arm and a leg helps :)

Sry....forgot to answer what I thought about the reel...I'm very happy with mine...zero complaints! Great drag, light, durable, good in salt.
