Title: Sunshine Coast
Post by: aquaboy24 on August 20, 2009, 11:14:52 PM
HI all - very long time - no speak. Twins will do that to you I guess.
Well, for the first time in a long time - I get to go out on a boat on Sunday...and I actually get to tell them where to go. We can launch in either Gibson's area, or up by Porpoise Bay. Either way..I would LOVE to catch some salmon...big ones, little ones. I also know lings are open up there. So my question is...where does one go? I dont know the area well, but I know there has to be some fish up there!

thanks
Vince

Try around Roberts Creek, or Camp Byng

I would head up one of the inlets for ling cod

you will need to go out on the open water for springs, off Roberts creek

there should be pinks in now so you could see them close to shore
launch at Porpoise Bay and head for the beach area near the park you will see them if they are there
Gibsons has reports of pinks being caught

not sure if you know the limits for Ling cod but i believe its one per day over 27", rock cod or red snapper one per day
not worth the gas if thats what you are after
check your regs though as there are some closures

I was out there last week and we lost one ling cod and kept two rock cod (there was 5 of us in the boat)
we were just out for a social gathering and did some fishing
Such a nice place to be, shame there are so many restrictions for sports fishing when the commercial is open :-\
we did not see another boat fishing
