Title: West Vancouver, August 16th & 17th 2009: Salt Chuck
Post by: CohoOn! on August 18, 2009, 05:12:23 PM
Wish I had more promising info folks but it's a big waste of time and gas right now.  :(
Fished hard both days from Cap to Pt. Atkinson and had nothing to show except two very small ones. Didn't see one boat fighting a fish nor any claims to any. DFO counter at the launch said he had one coho reported for the entire day Sunday. Relativeley small amounts and smaller sized coho staging off the mouth and like always they're lock jawed and most likely jigged if caught.
Couple of weeks ago my friend had alreday seen a large number of fish in the upper Capp so I think most of the recent fish have moved up already.
Best reports especially for Springs have been off the mouth of the Fraser and Pt. Grey which is where we're heading this week.
If I was heading to a river I'd be targeting the Fraser bars instead.
And just a heads up to those heading to the Fraser, as far as I understand there's no retention of any coho on the Fraser till October 1st.
Tight lines!  :)
