Title: pulling plugs
Post by: Paulo on August 18, 2009, 02:15:07 PM
I would like to hear from those of you who fish with Kwikfish type plugs. I am going to try this method and would like a rod for this purpose. My question is, what is your preferred rod for this type of fishery? I came across a Okuma that I think would be adequate. Okuma Guide select IM8 GS-C-902H Line 15-30 Lure 3/4-2oz. I can get it reaaly cheap from crappy tire with my points. Thanks for the help.

Personally I don't know the quality of a Okuma but any casting rod and bait caster will work. The Kwikfish plug has a lot of action in the water and if you have a rod with a soft tip it will be doing a rambunctious dance all day, so I would go with a stiffer rod.

This Okuma is just that. Its a good stiff rod down low to really be able to set those big hooks but a soft tip to allow that dance to show. Thanks for the input.

is this worth trying in the lower fraser?
maybe the sandy sections of the south arm?

seems to me, the plugs would be going the wrong way with tides.
