Title: Port Renfrew, July 28th & 29th 2009
Post by: deepcovehooker on July 30, 2009, 07:58:07 PM
Got back last night from two days at Port Renfrew.  There were 8 of us all together fished Tuesday and Wed. out on Swiftsure Bank.

Together we caught 28 springs, the biggest being 32 lbs., 28 hatchery Coho and 13 halibut.   Had to release the same number of wild Coho.

Great fishing and out on Swiftsure the waves were only 3 - 4 ft with a cool breeze blowing, just fantastic weather and fishing.  If you have a chance head over there.  It's only a 1.5 to 2.0 hour drive from either ferry.   8)  ;D  :D  ;)

That was great fishisng trip. Did you hire a guide/boat or bring your own? If a guide, can you recommend a good one there?  Is Port Renfrew a better fishing spot than Tofino/Uclulet area?

We used a guide.  The company was Sandbanks Charters.  I have been to Tofino once and I think PT is better.
