Another successful Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup wrapped up this afternoon as 115 volunteers battled the heat and mosquitoes to give a jewel of a river a face lift for the 27th time since the Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Coalition started 7 years ago.
Lew one of the CVRCC directors who does the assigning of the cleanup area's and keeps track of the stats said this was a record number of people to take part in the July Cleanup. Lew said today the CVRCC Adopt a River Program has taken 55 tons of garbage from the river banks during this 27 cleanups. Think of all the debris that has been prevented from finding its way into this waterway and the ocean below by the commitment of so many. Hats off to those that took part not only from this forum but by all 115 that did their part today, they made a big difference in making our world a bit better to live in be it a small way in the whole scheme of things.
I should not single out one person as there is many that come to every cleanup but I will in this case as Butch from the Lower Mainland area and a member of this forum drives many miles each cleanup to do his part, thanks loads Butch.
For those who have not been able to attend a cleanup in the past and maybe new to FWR please mark September 27, the date of BC River's Day and the CVRCC next cleanup. It is a big event, more details to follow in a few weeks.
Hope to see you there as we do a small part in preserving our precious waterways as clean water becomes more precious each year not only to our fish but to us as well.

Glad to hear about the success Chris. As you may or may not know I am moving back. You will have me back volunteering for the September clean up. I will also be putting together another Alouette Cleanup sometime in September as well. Their has not been another clean up on that river since I left. I am sure it needs our attention. I will be in contact with A.R.M.S when I move back in August. Hopefully you can make it to the Alouette :)

Very good, we will look forward to seeing you again and your participation once again. I imagine you know Geoff Clayton who is the president of A.R.M.S.. Geoff is on our Fraser River Gravel Stewartship Committee as well.
We will see if some of our people can make your cleanup too, good work on getting that program going.

And I think I have figured out how to post pictures too, I soon will be banned. ;D ;D Have to write the journal on the completed lake trip but off to badminton now and bar fishing trip tomorrow, you better come. ;D
