Anyone throwing around a sage FLi? What are your thoughts on it? I have been thinking about picking up a new, decent quality fly rod lately. Was originally looking at the launch. Was in a fred's today and for '09 sage replaced the FLi with the flight, so they had a sale on remaining FLi's. Originally $315 i think, down to $249. For the same price as the launch, i stepped up to 6wt Fli. I outfitted it with an okuma integrity reel, and some rio gold line.
Took it out today for a few casts, and do i ever enjoy it. I'm a pretty amature fly fisher at this point but compared to my old rod, my casting and acuracy got so much better. I really like the feel of it. Looks like a quality rod, as are all sages, but for a reasonable price.
They had a couple left, i think a 5wt, 7wt and 9 maybe? Seemed like a good deal.

The Fli is a great, forgiving, lower end Sage with great distance and feel without being a "stick".
I've been quite impressed with them overall.

i love mine, very sensative without giving up power, you'll definately enjoy it!

light but strong.

I didn't like the wider diameter blanks, in terms of the feel of the rod

it's a good stick, but i got rid of all my rods that don't have the "g5" technology. the "g5" is waaaaaaaaay stronger and lighter, so unless you nail your tip with a big pair of dumbbells you won't have to worry about breaking your tip as easily.
