Did somebody try to catch chinook on chilliwack, using spinners, spoons, flatfish or minnows?
Are they less effective than roe, or plastics?
Are they too pricey? Are they too easily ruined by rocks, or do they get snagged too often?

spoons lures work good for undisturbed aggressive fish at first light. in my opinion roe is better in the sense its more subtle and can be presented over and over. my experience with lures is find a nice pool at first light gently swing a spoons or spinner/blade across it a few times and if no strike insues try roe. thats just what i've found. or sometimes you stop getting bites on roe them you quickly throw on a blade and nail one. but if your going to beat the water all day i find personally its best to do it with roe unless your changing spots lots

best colour lure i have gotten springs on is Silver and BIG lures. have only gotten one red spring on a lure though, the whites seem to like them better i have found. :-\

thats probably because there are more whites! ::)

actually most of the ones i have caught on lures have been in the Stave where there isnt many chinook anyways. When they used to dig better pools in the Vedder i used to get lots in those pools hunting for coho also. I havent really tried spoons when the reds are in because they are such pigs for roe ;)

A bit off topic but does somebody know if the upper boundary is Slesse Creek, as the regs say or is it 100m downstream of the confluence like Rodney posted it. I'm a little bit confused. ???

Thanks ion, but i knew this topic already and it doesn't say clearly where the boundary is this year. From Rod:
"In the end, it was decided that the lower boundary would apply between August 1st and September 7th in the future, so summer red chinook brood collection would not be jeopardized. For the rest of the year (except June when the river is closed), the old boundary will be in effect. The official change should be available in next year's regulation synopsis."
The last post was from chris but I can't find anything in the regs.
"Heard today FOC is presently reviewing their decision to implement a permanent closure at the Limits Hole.
Meetings will be held to discuss this early in 2009."
So where is it now?

Nick, I've sent an email today to the regional manager for an update on ths status of this boundary. I should receive an answer by Monday afternoon if she's at her desk. I'll update then.

Got a reply already, on Sunday night too. That's good public service. ;)
The boundary is still at Slesse Creek. The new boundary will only be in effect from August 1st to September 7th to ensure the hatchery captures enough broodstocks. I will edit the article that I put together last week now.
No eels. ;D Just perch, bream and rudd lately. :)
