Title: Mouth of the Coquitlam River
Post by: Hollis on June 30, 2009, 11:44:37 AM: Has anyone fished for springs at the mouth of the Coquitlam River. I have done very well fishing for Pinks there but have not tried fishing for springs. Do they tend to travel upstream in the main tributary?

As for the mouth, I've fished it a couple time but never got much. I've never tried for springs there.

Roughly when will they be in the Coquitlam River and what is the anticipated run size (numbers)?

Post by: DionJL on July 02, 2009, 10:39:43 AM: I've never specifically targeted them in the Coquitlam. As I said they are all whites.

As for numbers, the hatchery releases a lot of smolts per year (~100,000 i think) but I have no idea what survival is like. I have yet to catch an adult spring in the Coquitlam since they started returning a few years.

They do not spawn in the river. They do get a very small return and I mean small. Less then 10.
