go to any spot on the river...find some slacker water away from the fast current...try not to use bait, they take it too deeply and a lot of them die.

Lots of them everywhere, very easy to catch, and none of real size.... Bait is the best, but like kingpin said youll tend to gut hook more. Single jensen eggs work for them. Iv heard from alot of people they may be juvenile steelhead and personally Id leave them alone.

Fly fish a red stimulator pattern (dry fly).
Pretty much any dry fly will work. Would be a great way to get into fly fishing if you're not already.
If you want I have 3 fly rods, I would be willing to take you out one day for a go at it, just email me.

O sorry.... Ill PM it to you  8)
Yes the river opens tomorrow.... you can always use bait in the vedder.
Only use it if you plan on keeping them, they tend to swallow it.

Hey Rodney,  do you have any photos or descriptive text that will help identify trout vs. juvenile Steelhead?

There are very few trout in the Vedder river, almost all you catch will be juvenile Steelhead (which have become resident fish).
Resident trout normally have white-tipped fins.

retaining the hatchery trout is not a problem ....quote from Rod..."To eliminate the chance of hatchery juvenile steelhead becoming resident rainbow trout, which has a negative impact on native resident species, anglers are allowed to keep hatchery marked rainbow trout. "
