Title: leaky boat

My old aluminum boat is starting to leak conciderable from some of the seams, does anyone know of any sort of paint or caulking that could be put on them to dry out the floor once more?

I have been using a 2 part epoxy that comes in a stick and is aluminum color. It works well and can be sanded down to make a seamless joint. I have a new (well new to me) 11' tin can that has a few leaky rivets and I am going to try a G2 epoxy that I  have had my students use in their senior metal class. I'll do some experimentation this weekend and let you know what works the best.

block up the boat have two people with hammers and punches and tap each rivet at the same time
the waves stretch them a bit so they need to be tightened

My 'tinny' is nearly 40 years old.  Over the years there has been a couple of times when a trickle has worked its way through.  I made a "dolly", or backer, and did exactly as above.  Fixed everything great.

Hi TF, I have been looking for 2 part expoxy for my ext. wood furniture but Home Depot and Rona doesn't carry it.  Mind share where you got yours?

Repaired a few alum boats with glovit works great made for just what you want it for try Steveston Marine its not cheap but it works what ever you do don't chalk it the cleanup is a lot of work and its doesn't last trust me ! before you put down the glovit tighten up all the rivits I used a air hammer and had a helper with a heavy Dolly on the other side wear ear protection LOL this will give you many years of use from your boat again if its going to be used on the river look into a sheet of UHMW (supper plastic) this will make everything very strong and slides great on the rocks with no visible wear Plastic Works in surrey has the UHMW not cheap either do it right the first time nothen worse than fixing your toys  the plastic needs to be bolted and special glue hope this helps you

Hey BwiBwi, I got the two part epoxy at Steveston Marine but industrial plastics has a better selection and better customer service.

Glovit is the only sure way. It was designed for it.
