Title: Thompson River FLoat
Post by: KLX on June 24, 2009, 04:27:43 PM
Hi,
We are planning to head up to the thompson between ashcroft and spences somewhere and would like to know if anyone can recommend a good section to float. I cant seem to get accurate info on anything we want to stay safe and not float this stretch blind...

Thanks, email in confidence if necessary.

TIA

Most guys run that section of the river in a jet, there is some hariy sections for a float. You can go around  a side channel if the water is high.

Juniper to ashcroft is a nice float, just it is a big river and has some good fast section.
The only intimidating parts are going under the railway bridges, they are on angles and really push up the water.

Good luck.

I have only floated kamloops lake to ashcroft about doz times. in 8 foot pontoons and a 14ft drift boat.
