im going to be camping in the hope area and was wondering if anyone knows which end of this lake would be better to target. I have looked at the depth maps and know the overall size of the lake. im just curious which end i should target when i first get there, the skinny end with the proper boat launch and cabins(looks like on map) or should i target the more wide open end that has a great looking rock shoal (google earth pics) ??
I dont need fly suggestions but if you wanna share feel free ;)
I ask this because i will be launching from the bad launch along highway 1 instead of driving up to the one end.
Thanks

First off, good luck launching on the HWY side, very steep. The north end (Cabin end) has a better place, but they will not allow you to launch unless you are a guest.
Now for the fishing,
I fish there 3-4 times a year for 10 years now, the best places by far are:
-The South end (By the rock Slide). There are a few really nice drop off's as well as one nice small shoal.
-The Oppisite side from the HWY is also good. There are a few smaller bays on that side, and I always have better luck near the points.
I would start at the rock slide end, it has always produced more and larger fish for me.
Good luck, and have fun

Thanks for the heads up Rick. you really think its to steep to launch a Vboat or pontoon ??

V-Boat or pontoon should be OK, it is very steep, but you should be able to. There is NO WAY I could get my Spratly down there.

I've caught them on small halfbacks. Straight across by the big log/stump that sticks out.

anyone ever attempt launching a 14fter at his lake via the highway side??
or just go to thee cabin side, according to rick they wont allow you to.. thoughts?

I have with a buddy of mine. It is doable, just a bit tough unless you have a few stronger guys.
