Noticed that Richmond City council members have voted to allow electric cars to use the roads in the city. Only thing is the cars can do a max. speed of 40 km per hr. ---- That's ok if they mainly stay on 4 lane streets like #2 Rd. & the like... Not too many drivers go the 50km posted speed so if they get behind one of those electric cars... drivers will get impatient. ------- My dad has an electric scooter (for seniors) but he uses the bike routes or side walks thus on a small scale these electric veicles are great. ----------------------But to allow them (40 km ones) on roads.... that may cause line ups I have my reservations...During rush hr people do not want to get stuck behind one of these turtles....... They charge up via a normal 110 outlet in 3-4 hrs time appartantly. In a few yrs electric veicles may become 30 % of the total cars on the roadways possibly. --- I can see the gov. upping the hydro costs even higher so they can tap into the extra taxation. ---The plus side is less pollution. -----There must be other models from other makers that can build these veicles with a higher top speed I'm sure someplace. -----------------One preacher was asked why he did not put a bumper sticker on his car ? "Jesus loves you" bumper sticker. He said that since he goes over the posted speed limit a bumper sticker may not be a good idea !!!! ( I guess he should of prayed more for patience ...thus maybe then he'd do the speed limit) ------ When the police pull a person over for speeding...the #1 thing they tell the officer..."I was just following the traffic flow" ...........

Probably should make Richmond an electric car only city. Then everyone would be going the same speed. Wouldn't need to get a drivers license neither. Just no talking on the cell phone when driving. 8)

the cars can be made to go much faster, but,
after 40km they need crash ratings, which they will never pass.
council passed the same thing in White Rock almost 10 years ago, but yet I never see the cars.

Now if I had the cash, I'd try one of these electric babies from Tesla Motors
