Title: Allouette Lake, June 7th 2009
Post by: Piranha on June 07, 2009, 01:55:48 PM
Good Kokanee fishing. I launched my fishcat left of the dock and went up and down the shoal. The fishcat handled the wind and big waves with ease.  :)  First time fishing for kokanee and eating the fish.

The brain, skin, fins and eyeballs were the best,  so good  :)

We fished along the southeast side of the lake and slayed our limit.
They are a great fish to smoke.

I as well was in the derby with 4 friends and had a blast. The derby blew my expectations out of the water. I had a ton of fun met some great people and will sign up next year in a heart beat. We caught a ton of Kokanee and would have had more in the boat; if only the captan and I could have put the fish in the net (our leaders were way too long, now that I look back). I should say one of the young ladies that were with us caught most of the fish including a nice 1.4lb lake trout, that put her in second place for total weight and she took home $250.

Watch the Pitt meadows chamber of commerce website to see some great pictures. They should be up in a week or so I was told.  http://openforbusinessmrpm.com/cms/index.php

I don't think that anyone was trying to keep the derby a secret. This was the first time that the people at the Pitt meadows chamber of commerce had put on a fishing derby so I don't think that they knew how to or were to market the advertising.
