I was there with a Buddie a few weeks ago, we pulled in a ton of 8"-15" rainbows near the far island. We were trolling green and red doc spratleys with a full sink line.I believe that the gate is open all season if not it will opened by 8am. Good Luck Hollis

I am interested in trying this lake myself.  Is it possible to get a small (8' 'glass) into the water?  I don't have access to a 'toon and I am waaay past the 'tube' stage of fishing.  I don't think that they make a tube strong enough to hold me up.   :D

Weaver is a rather large lake so a boat is alot more plausible then a float tube or pontoon. Unless you have an electric on your 'toon of course. I use to fish this lake alot as a kid/pre-teen, this was before you had to pay to camp there. the fish back then were bigger on average also from what i hear gets caught there regularly. Trolling wedding bands & ford fenders with worms works best for us back then.

Gates were open when I was up there yesterday at 6:30 am as well, so they must be left open. The fishing was slow for me and the three other boats on the lake. The smaller lakes in the area were fishing well however. I almost had a heart attack when a beaver came out of nowhere and tail whacked the water three feet from my kayak on Grace Lake.
