I haven't been around a lot at all lately... been busy and not really fishing at all... but I moved and I'm a little closer to the action now. What do you guys think the salmon runs are going to be like this summer and into fall.... was ok for Coho last year. Didn't go out for springs once and I missed that 3 day opening or how ever long it was for Sockeye....what are your thoughts?
Thanks.
Dave.

All I know is that I find out in 2 weeks if I will miss the entire summer of fishing. Might need back surgery at the end of June. If surgery is required then the fall could be spent in physio as I will be in a back brace for awhile during the summer. I am hoping that the next 2 rounds of cortison epiderals will work as the first one did absolutey nothing.

I'm thinking it is going to be a very good year.
All the ocean reports are doing VERY well right now. Lots of bigger than normal fish around, and just way more numbers.
Sockeye was opened in the ocean for the first time in (I believe) the last 4 years.
There is also more feed around right now, and fish being seen in large numbers (herring, etc) where they havn't been for quite some time.
Im also going on the fact that there were literally TONNES of jack coho this last year which normally dictates the next year's runs.
Add this to the fact that there were quite a few jack springs and pinks are running also.
Im thinking it will be a awesome year, and Im heading to the island in August! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT.

Right now methinks it is gonna be a Season To Remember!! ;D
Check out my WCVI Salmon report in of course the Reports section, and you'll understand why ;)

I think the cold winter might make for a good summer/fall.
