Title: 1500 Kokenee fish killed per day Okannagan Lake
Post by: arimaBOATER on May 23, 2009, 09:07:24 PM
Heard about 1500 per day possibily fish killed when a tug / barge/ pumping hoses /suction etc.... work that has (or still is) been done on Okannagan Lake.  I think they are trying to control the shrimp population but in doing so as many as 1500 fish get sucked into the hoses... When the fish get thrown back into the water ...observer said it looked like the fish looked too injured to survive. --------------------------- Must be a safer way to do this type of work ???  If you or I harmed 1000 fish on a daily basis the higher ups would be "down our throats.  No wonder some sport fishermen get skunked fishing that lake...........

Thank you for sharing that. Keep up the good work; the only way to get the powers that be to anything about things like this is public outcry. Scream Long and Scream loud! Let us not forget (if do not know the history, read it) how long it took to get a fish way at Hells Gate, after the two railways filled the river with rocks.
