Kind of sad to see this river so depleted with fish. The Expo year and subsequent years had phenominal fishing. What went wrong? Can't always blame the ocean or environment. The river is pretty well the same shape environmentally as before, and can the ocean be so bad for coho now? Did the hatchery cut stocking? Any one with some information on yearly stocking comparison? Just so sad that a favourite local river for the Vancouverites can be so depleted. Why must we spend a whole day and spend $$$ on gas to enjoy fishing far from town? Perhaps the drive for 'fishing in the city' should include stocking the Cap for a great local coho fishery. Can't fishery just stock this river like they did during Expo years? ???

stocking numbers are a small fraction of what they were during Expo

if memory serves they get between 15,000 - 20 000 return on average. last year was less then 4000.

Maybe they should close it off for a while to let it come back, cause it's every one that goes there to snag tiny little coho's that has wreaked it as well as many other things. Your better off fishing for bullheads.
