Do you want a floating line?  Sink tip?  Intermediate sink?  Full sink?  Slime line?

Also, try washing your line in warm, slightly soapy water, and then gently but firmly stretching it out.  Depending on how bad the memory is, sometimes this will work wonders.

The old standby Cortland 444 Lazer Line is great. Rio makes a good line as are the SA lines these days. I skimp on a few things but line is not one of them. I would suggest you go to a local fly shop, get them to show you what they have and go from there. Cheaper lines work for a bit but even with extensive cleaning etc. they are not great. If you really want to not spend the money, try stretching your fly line a couple of feet at a time. This should take the memory out for a while anyway.

get a leader straightener   http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0001324311567a.shtml
with SA leaders i had not much of a problem stretching the leader by hand. Now for some reason my store only gets Rio leaders and those  take a good hard stretching and still cant get the coils completely out.  >:(

Courtland 444 lines are great and have little memory. Most lines will eventually begin to coil after time and will need a little bit of help to stay staight. If you use a lower quality line, they tend to be terrible for coiling.

There is only one line on the market that does not coil. Those are RIO!!!

I have used Cortland and S.A. for many years, and I got SOOOOOO sick of the memory problems that they have in cold water, I decided to look around. I tried many different lines like RIO, Airflo, Monik, etc... and found that RIO is by FAR the best lines on the market.

The Rio Aqualux if by far the Best Type I (Slime line) on the market, and the RIO Gold is the best floating line (By a long way) on the market.
