Well I managed to get out on the Columbia River again out here in Castlegar. It was a pretty nice day and I needed to get away from my school work, marking, prep, etc.
I got down there about 5:00 ish and found a nice pool to fish. There was a bit of a hatch going on, lots of small flies and a few of these guys.

I worked the pool from top to tail for a while and then moved on. I tried a few more locations and then decided it was time to leave. Instead of taking the nice trail back to my car I thought I would walk the rocky shore and just check nothing was rising down stream. I kept my 5wt rigged up and started walking, enjoying the beautiful evening. I made it about a half kilometer down stream and heard a fish rise. I stopped and watched the water ahead and saw a few more risers. I thought that a couple more casts can't hurt. Three casts later.. fish on. After a great fight, a screaming reel, and some acrobatics I landed another bright rainbow.
I love this river.
