Title: whats the lesser of two evils
Post by: camtheman on February 17, 2009, 08:15:47 PM
this summer i was camping with a friend on what was there of peg leg and cleaned up the beach of several thousand feet of line (im not kidding) and garbage
we had nothing to put it into so in the end we burned it

should we have left it to go into the river or did we do the right thing?

good question, I am not sure, but I would lean towards leaving it if you could not pack it out.

Personally I would burn it rather than leave it on the beach. If it's only fishing line I don't think it's going to have a big environmental impact.

Ya, it's probably more damaging intact.  It can't cut, strangle, maim, and kill birds, fish, and mammals if it's all burnt up.  The environmental impact of burning that would be insignificant.

Burn.
