Title: Cowichan River, January 29th & 30th 2009
Post by: legend on January 30, 2009, 05:17:37 PM
Fished for steel and was very happy with my new home river. Amazing river just walking and exploring and learning my new flow. I am a rookie steelheader never hooked one never targetted them but having the cow minutes from my house i have the bug. Fished 5 hrs each day. Found some good looking spots where there were others angling on foot and via drift boats. Day one float dissapeared once nothing to show. Day two about a five pound cuttie it took a pink worm i was very excited thought it was a steelie at first oh well  gotta keep at it eventially it will happen back at it tommorow.

Welcome to the Valley. I am here as well. I moved here in May of last year. I have been REALLY busy with my business but plan on hitting a lake in 2 weeks. If you ever want to get together for some fishing let me know. I still have not been on the Cowichan and cant wait to get on it.

Yeah it sure is a pleasent change from the lower mainland fishing over here the only thing i miss is the sturgeon days. But when you head out here there are way less people to worry about. This is my second go round in the Cow Valley and im living at Lake Cowichan so there are endless areas to fish all with in an hour of the house Renfrew , nitnat , San jaun the list goes on and on. I moved back here in June but have been working in Fort mac for the last year so fishing time has been very limited once i get back into the swing of things i would definatly be into hookin up and pounding some water .

You can fish gear for steelie on the cowichan? I though it was fly fishing only? Let me know if I am wrong as I would like to fish it as well?

Thankyou Rodney, I will call a local store to find out exactly where we are aloud to be fishing. As I don't know that area too much.
