Hey guys i am new to curing roe i was wondering if i can use pro cure then after thats finished freeze it with borax?(Fill a bag then throw the roe in)
Thx

better to fill a mason jar, top the roe off with borax, (too much will really dry out the roe). Then light a piece of wax paper, put it on top and screw down the lid. It'll be good frozen for a year.

I procure my roe and dry it to the consistency I like and then covered them with borax prior to freezing.

Hi CK, I've been using the same method for a number of years and I always get my roe skeins in Sept. Oct. Nov. pro-cure them, I like double red hot, put them in a bag with lots of borax. Shake, shake, shake, and put them in a plastic tupperware type container and they are always good when the good fishing starts in May. Always big and red soft eggs that look like a Xmas decoration. Pretty easy really. Good luck and if you need any further help let me know.
