Had a very nice day today. I was really not sure how the river was going to be but I wanted to get out none the less. Headed up river to escape the silty water and was pleasantly surprised to see the river in very good shape with about 3 to 4 feet of visibility. I began working some pockets and met a really nice guy named wade who had some good advice for me on Steelhead fishing. After talking with him he said I could join him on the run so I flipped out a small gooey bob on #4 hook with a little bit of white wool. First cast, my float takes a dive, I rear back and set the hook, my heart rate is way up. After a brief struggle I land a 15 to 16 inch bull trout which had inhaled my hook very deep. Wade grabbed some needle nose pliers to get down the throat of this poor fish and release him. I fished till about four thirty determined to get that elusive first steelhead. I was working the tail out on about a 50 ft drift, to the point where I could hardly see my float top, when, bam!! it disappears just before the current break, I reef back and set the hook, sure enough there is a fish on. Heart racing again, I head downstream rapidly reeling in, hoping to land my first steelhead. After another brief fight I land the little guy in the pics below. No steelhead, but a gorgeous fish none the less. Rodney gets them down on the Fraser and I got my first two on the Vedder. A good day

thanks guys, and yeah Wade told me about the last few Steelhead that he's had on, one of which he fought for 10 min. only to have it play dead and take off just as he was about to tail it. I love running into someone like that on the river, no attitude whatsoever, its really refreshing.
