Post by: patagonia on November 27, 2008, 08:15:52 PM
Went up to the Chek today... water was in great shape, caught a wild coho that was dark and a beauty dollie, TONS of dead chum everywhere... saw no fresh fish at all.... its done until steelhead season.

Yes, season seems to be done. Went to the Cheak last week, some dead chum, much fewer than usual. Telling from the numbers in our little creek by the house, numbers are way down from last year... I sure hope there are still a few more coming up to spawn.

Sorry no pics... took the camera out and it was dead!!! too bad as their were about 30 eagles sitting in 1 tree about 100 yards away! I was shocked to see the number of dead/dying chum in the run I fished in the afternoon... tons of them... talked to a few locals and event hey were surprised. Wasnt many further up but down by Sunwolf it was full of them... nothing fresh at all so I didnt bother them but nice to see a good number of chum

There are a good number of fish in the  prime holding spots for them. As Hickman related too this in no way was a good run of chum we had. Usually the river looks like what you saw no matter where you are. Hope for something better next year. :'( Time to get out for the bulls and Dollys if I ever get a day off work....
cheers
