still trying to decide the best action for my new rod

I have a medium and it works great for everything and is quite sensitive

I have a medium and love it, I could see using a heavier action on the fraser where you've got your gear way out as far as you can cast but for the Vedder I like something lighter. I am actually considering picking up a 8'6" or 9' light action rod with smaller reel set up.

8-17, 10-20 max.
12-25 is good if you are fishing for bears and you need to smack them over the head.

A medium rod will handle most of your fishing on the Vedder.

Hubs has a great deal on shimano rods light-med...8-17 i think. Last weekend they were $75.00....good price for good rod!

sage 3106, its pricey cus its sage, but an excellent rod.

The 12-25 line rods are for bottom bouncing the Fraser for Springs. I'm not surprized that tackle shops have a lot of inventory after the big push to go away from BB'ing.

Another vote for the Sage 3106 for an all round river rod.
They might be more money but with a lifetime guarantee and great components they are probably less expensive in the long run.
Shimano Convergance and TrophyXL are great rods for the money as well.

fyi...despite the fact that Sage rods have lifetime warranty but if you broke a sage rod, they will charge $50 for S&H. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Sage rods. However, this is a factor for me to consider the next time buying a brand new rod - factory or blank!! Your opinion on this?

$50.00 for S&H ? Didn't cost me a cent the last time I broke my Sage.

Tackle shop. I only had to pay for the wrapping of the guides.

Reiber, I don;t think the rods are left behind because of a move away from BB ing but rather a lack of an opening. As far as I know BB ing is quite appropriate on the Fraser. Heavier rods are also great for bar fishing.

that 8-15lb rating is huge, there are so many rods out there with that line rating and totally different actions, some are meat sticks and others total noodles, it depends on the company,graphite and construction of the blank
