Go to your local tackle shop and tell them where you plan to fish and what you're targetting. They'll recommend something.

Assuming you want to shortfloat, go with a medium action trigger-grip 10'6 or 11' rod, rated 10-20#.
It will give you all the power you need, and it is a great general use salmon/steelhead rod.
With it, you can fish for all salmonid species in the Vedder.
Make sure to match it with the right levelwind reel, such as Ambassadeur 5 or 6000 series or Calcutta 250/400, and Bob's your uncle.
Shimano, Fenwick, Berkley, TFO, Sage, Quantum, Trophy...all those brands make such rods at different price points to suit every budget.

To make it real easy for you ;D
Get Fenwick HMX 10-20 lb and Abu Revo-S low profile baitcaster and Betsy is your aunt!

thanks for the help

I own two Berkley specialist rods 10'6" and they have landed tons of fish from all size ranges. nice sensitive tip. My buddy has an HMX that he loves, thanks to me picking it out for his girlfriend to give him for his bday LOL its good to see him fishing a new rod that he is actually landing his fish with ;D
the HMX is a little lighter rod (weight wise) so i would go for that if i had to buy a new trigger rod. unfortunately i use a pin setup now so i wont ;)

If coho is your main target, get Gloomis GLS STR1363. Line rating 6-12 Lure Weight 3/8 ~ 3/4. Good for casting light lure/bait. Couple it with a low profile reel something with magnetic slow down. ie Daiwa Steez great for casting light weight.

im kinda looking for a rod that would be light enough for coho but could still tackle a spring if it took my hook

You'll love the GL3 then. I've fought springs upto #24 on it and it was FUN!!!
