Squamish River is practically void of chum. :(
Where we once could almost "walk on their backs" (that's how many there were), in a period of two hours we saw only 2 rises today.
Surprisingly, there were a lot of people fishing - not a single one caught from 7-9:30 AM. We checked a total of three spots upstream from Brackendale.
Very sad. I hope they are late, but it doesn;t seem to be the case. All chum are were they are supposed to be, except in the Squamish.
That run is seriously compromised.
I hope DFO closes the river completely, or at least for retention.
On a brighter note, we drove to the Vedder and had a great afternoon catching chum and coho on the fly. :)

I don't know where home is for you,but that sounds
like alot of driving in one day!
Its a good thing gas is,how do I say this?...........a better price!
That commute in my truck is equal to the purchase of a Sage! ;)

I live very conveniently located in East Van near the PNE. Once I take McGuill, it's just a matter of heading east or west on HWY 1. ;D
And the key word in my post is "we".
In times of recession, commuting with buddies is the way to go! ;)

yes it is an awful shame what the squamish is like this year.....

Good save on the trip there, Milo! My report is coming up soon. :)

Thats a good way to think of it! I should take a few days off fishing and buy some new gear. ;D

likewise....fished the squamish for a few hours on saturday. the ratio of fish to seals was 2:4.
great day to wet a line and practice with the big fly rod but thats about it.

Thanks for the reports. Was thinking of heading up there tomorrow. Think I'll head out to the valley tomorrow instead.

lots a chum in the cheak but tonnes of people to go along with them. caught 3 none of which were clean, all coloured up. also caught a little bully but none of the fish were anywhere near worth a picture

There are not lots of chum in the Cheakamus. There are fish pooled at at the Frog Pond and a couple of other small areas but that is it. The river should be ram jam full but it and all of the other Squamish areas streams are not. It should be closed to chum retention ASAP.

Any word on when they are going to close?????? Should be off limit to retention by now I would think....They just arent showing up at all :'( :'( :'(
