After we get back from hunting I have the option of getting 200+ skeins of trout roe. These trout are raised in a pond by a guy in our hunting party, and we take all 300 or so of them (the trout) out every year. These trout are around 5-6 pounds or more, with very few smaller than that. I am thinking the eggs will be about the same size as salmon or Steelhead eggs.
My question is : Do you think these skeins would be ok for salmon or steelhead bait? My logic being that Steelhead are just a giant trout says they would work....

The roe will be just fine. You're lucky to get that much for free.

Just make certain that they are cured as soon as possible or they will go to waste...

wow, thats allot of roe! If any should go to waste I'd gladly save it ;D
