just got a diawa luna and love it now need a new rod for this reel looking at sage 2106ct or 3106ct any help with these rods and information on them would be great .Will be paring this set uo with my center pin set up for the upcomming season
fish mainly lower mainland thanks for the information cheers.

if it was me it would depend what your CP setup is if you allready have the 2 weight I would choose the 3106 if your CP is a 3 I would go with the 2106 to give you flexibility.
what size Luna did you get? as that will also be a factor.
what weight of line do you plan to use?
-
Unless you got the Mini Luna, I would suggest the 3106. I have a Rainshadow that is pretty much the same as the 3113's I have had matched with my Luna and I love it. ;)

my center pen is a drifter on a sage 2106b the brown rod and the luna is the 300 thanks for the help and cheers may get a new rod for the luna on the weekend .Will use this for springs and winter steelhead so line weight will be 15 to 20 mainline.

went with the 3113 11"3 this will be my rod as I have tried it out and can use it on any lower mainland river and the fraser for sho and got a killer deal on it cheers and thanks to all that replied

How much did you pay and where did you get it. Just waiting for my Kingfisher to come in and was hoping to get a 3113 too.

I too have the sage 3113, one drift and a centre pin ;D . I had them both built by Peter about 6-7 years ago at Fred's but unfortunatly he's no longer there. Back then you have to get them custom built and Perter was the only person that did all the rod building at Fred's and he was the best there hands down.....
They are awesome rods and you'll have fun catching salmon for years to come.
Gotcha

where did Peter go?

For fishing the Vedder would the 3106 L be better considering that the 3113 is not available in a L only an M???

Awesome, thanks for the info :)

I heard he went into construction

The last time i spoke to him was this summer and he's heading to Nelson ( or the interior) for work. He's a carpenter by trade. He does beautiful fly tying also..... You will see some of his creations at Pacific Anglers by the cashier, it's the epoxy chironomids and minnow patterns.

The 3106L will not handle bigger springs too well. The 3113M will be fine for the chedder system as it can handle a bigger fish if needed, yet it will still bend nice for a smaller fish like a 5lb jack spring.
The 3113MB will handle all species of salmon, wheather big or small the action on the rod is great. Did you or are you going to purchase a factory rod or have one custom built??? I've heard some fishermans have ordered their blanks from the Sage factory and looked for a rod builder to put the rod together just because off the "bling" that they like to have. Examplies like the reel seat, corks and titanium guides....
my 2 cent...

The 3113 is a good all around rod that will handle springs quite nicely, but also has a soft flexability to make for fun times with cohos and steelhead. It's my favorite rod right now. I used it on thew weekend and it handled the springs quite nicely.

I just got the 3113 for my pin. I can not wait to get out there and use it.
-
I was planning on going with a factory rod just because if the rod breaks you only get a new blank and would have to assume the cost of a new build again. Also I feel like I'm getting enough bling out of the Kingfisher :)

Going with the factory is a good way to go and it comes with a tube. If it breaks you get a new rod not just a blank!

Got my 3113 with the Kingfisher on Sunday morning and went staight to the Vedder. My brother got the same set up with the 3106L and both of us couldn't be happier. The reels are awesome and we both managed to land springs consistantly. Unfortunately we have yet to land a single coho :( however I'm proud to report that every fish was kooked perfectly in the mouth. Not sure why but we seemed to have several foul hooked fish on the level winds so we hope the succes of the center pins is a new trend. ;D
