Title: Elk / Beaver Lake
Post by: capman on September 04, 2008, 09:27:49 PM
Taking the familiy to Victoria for the weekend and am thinking to do some fishing with the kids near in a lake near Victoria whille we are there. Is Elk or Beaver lake is my best bet? What type of fly would you recommend.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Hey Capman;

I fished Elk/Beaver lake about 2 weeks ago.  I was trolling flys (Wolly Buggers) from my pontoon boat mostly on the southeast shore of Elk.  Down that way there was lots of boat traffic and I didn't have much success for anything other than small bass.  I would suggest heading up into to Beaver Lake if you are belly boating or pontooning.  If you have a power boat there are several boat launches around the lake, but I would still say head up into Beaver were it is much quieter.  Regardless, the water was quite warm then and I expect that the fish would be more active now.  I had good success in other lakes north of Victoria trolling green wolly buggers - small with a bit of flash on them, hope that helps...
