Title: West Kootenays / Castlegar
Post by: Funeral Of Hearts on August 21, 2008, 12:14:05 PM
Well im moving to castlegar this Saturday, i'll be camoing for the first week and looking for a place to rent ( I start my practicum at selkirk on monday).
I hear the fishing is good up there, in general. So.. i will be taking my fly rod.

Anyone know the "must have" flies for that area? I have never fished it before and i have no idea where I will fish, so any general fly knowledge would be a help.

thanks.

The Columbia is know for sick Caddis hatches, look for back eddy's in the evening. So bring lots of sedges.

have you had any luck in the koots funeral? I see your doing a practicum at selkirk, looks like you will be a colleague of my mutha, heres a tip, go to fairview and there is a pullout on the river side of the highway, park there, walk across the tracks and you'll find a path down to the river. There is a deadly back eddy there. When i lived in gar i would consistently catch 3-4 pounders there on bait or fly, enjoy.
