Title: Birkenhead, July 12th and 13th 2008
Post by: ostrea lake on July 14, 2008, 09:48:48 PM
I was on the Birkenhead this weekend. A bit high, but the last of the run off, clearing up. Only small residents should be great in a few weeks.

Ive seen some great photos of birk rainbows on the whistler fly shop website... are the decent size rainbows resident in the system or do they just follow the salmon runs? Im pretty sure you cant fish for salmon on this system but was wanting to head up that way for some trout...

The resident rainbows are beautiful, but don't be afraid to throw that ugly fly out there for some large bull trout that come down from the lake. It is a truly beautiful river to fish with little to no pressure on it, definately worth a visit for a few days, tight lines.
