Title: Trout in mexico? Who'd a thunk it.
Post by: Jonny 5 on July 02, 2008, 04:18:12 PM
Howdy fishers, I know some of y'all are really into the mexican vacationing, so I had a quesiton for you.  A firiend of mine has a place in Oaxaca, and she says there are trout in one of the local rivers... I saw pictures of the fish from far away, and I would guess they are trout, but not sure what kind... Anyone know what they are and a bit of info on them?

Cheers,

J5

Mexicans use the word Trucha (trout) for almost any freshwater fish-(as do Cubans).

There might be Trout in the mountains of Oaxaca as there are in northern Baja California and some remote parts of northern Mexico.

South of Mexico City there used to be fishery for Golden Rainbows but that may have been a pay  put 'n take operation I drove by once but was unable to stop.
