Anyone got any feedback on this model?

I personally don't like the 5wt, I have cast a few of them, The 5wt, 4wt, and the 6wt. I liked the 4wt, but I found the 5wt to soft for my taste.
If you are going to spend the money on the FLI, I would go cast one, then compare it to the Sage launch and the EchoII.
There are (In my opinion) Many better rods on the market for the price range. In the classes I teach, I have had a few students with them, and ALL of them had problems casting with them. I get them to try out my launch and they cast much crisper and farther.

What model of the Sage Launch would you recommend for fishing interior lakes for trout? Probably a 5 WT but what length would you suggest?

My difficult choice is between the Sage FLi or the Scott A2.....both in the same $$ range. I havent not casted both of them out. Does anyone know which one has more backbone or which one is more presentaion. Thanks.

For the interior lakes, it depends on your experience level. For the beginner, I would stay with the 5wt, for the more experienced, a 4wt.For length, 9' or a 9'6"

If I had to choose between the two, I would go with the Scott, HANDS DOWN!!!!!

As I said In my first post, I don't like the FLi.
I find the action too whippy, and soft, and this can lead to difficulties casting in the wind. This is my Opinion, I do know of a few people that LOVE them, but they are seasoned flyfishers and cast GREAT with any rod. I have been doing this for a living for a while and flyfishing for 18 years and cast well, but I prefer a slightly stiffer tip for accurate casting.
Again, Just my opinion.

I have both of those rods. Afaic you can't go wrong with either. I would suggest you cast them both and buy the one that suits your casting style.
I disagree with Rick on the FLI. It is a fast action rod. I have the 4pce 9'6'' 6wt. Lots of power. I can easily toss as much line as I want with this rod. I use it mostly for Coho and lakes that have large trout.

I have an 8wt Fli and can cast out as much line (a few types) as I want with great accuracy. I always look forward to taking it out. I have a couple other higher end sage rods as well and i like this one just as much. I find, in the 8wt anyways, that it is NOT a soft rod, if it was, I'd be in a lot of trouble casting out my slime line. It has lots of backbone and you can really feel it pick up and load the line well. I think for the money it is a good rod. All that said ,I can't speak to the lighter ones. If they had the same characteristics they might feel a little sluggish.
