Valiant efforts fail - man drowns
PORT MOODY/CKNW(AM980)

5/26/2008

According to witnesses, emergency officials performed CPR for over 40 minutes, but tonight a 55 year old man is dead after an apparent drowning in Port Moody.

Police are saying little at this point, but a statement released says police, fire and ambulance were called to White Pine Beach at Sasamat Lake around 2:40 Sunday afternoon. When they arrived, a man was pulled from the water unconscious. Paramedics and firefighters traded off with each other several times as they performed CPR in full view of stunned onlookers. In the end the man was pronounced dead.
Police haven't released a name pending notification of the victims family.
