Two men were arrested Wednesday after fleeing from a stolen boat.

The two men are believed to have stolen a 17-foot zodiac from a marina near Captain's Cove in Ladner, said Delta police Constable Paul Eisenzimmer.

The boat was later located up river at a dock near Brownsville Pub under the Pattullo Bridge in Surrey.

Eisenzimmer said both Delta and New Westminster police staked out the site and waited for the suspects to return. The New West officers were called in to assist because the Delta department does not have a boat.

When the suspects returned, the New West police attempted to stop the boat. The suspects ran the stolen boat aground and attempted to flee on foot but were arrested by Delta officers.

Eisenzimmer said the suspects would most likely be charged with possession of stolen property.

That is excellent news. I'm tired of hearing people ripping off others of their hard earned possessions.
