Second week of March my partner and I took 5-6 over a weekend mind you this was in 1990 or 1991. At the time I fished the Cap alot and ususally by April there would be resonable numbers in the system. The early fish, while not big always tasted great with brght red flesh as they had not switched to herring. There was often fish caught earlier than that we use to Joke that the Cap had a 10 month run as some years you would get chrome fish into Dec my latest was around Dec 10 when we were looking for early steelies.

My records show that I caught two on an evening April 16 a few years back, they were about 2 pounds each.

We use to find that the early fish would be in small schools in the Canyon. For the early fish hardware often worked instead of roe. Also, there was always a chance of an early summer or late winter.

that is some exciting news, being stuck in Toronto since September has made me appreciate fishing in BC so much more!
cant wait to get back...one 2 more weeks.

Last year I caught my first coho in early May........ just a couple more weeks to go

I saw squat there yesterday and I covered a lot of ground. Usually mid May until they really get going. I always liked the look of dismay on my neighbors faces when I would be walking in the door with some shiny fish when they were leaving for work.

Yeah, it's usually been mid to late May for me as well
