Anyone have any recommendations for a good fly tying book?
-
My favourite fly tying book is "The Fly Tying Bible". Another good one is "The Ultimate Fly Box".

Tying Flies for Trophy Trout by Jack Shaw

I have just picked up "still water solutions recipes" by Brian Chan and Phil Rowley. Great book and really nice design as you can have it sitting up perfectly when tying. Has great flies for still water.

Well i went out and bought the "Fy tying bible"... it seems like a good book.
Now i just need some more tying supplies...
thanks for all the recommendations!

We bought one for our son at Reaction Fly and Tackle on Whatcom RD.
Ask one of the guys who work there they are more than happy to guide you.

i also would like to add Fly Patterns for Stillwater(a study of trout, entomology and tying) by Philip Rowley, and of course the Jack Shaw books!that's my 2 cents. :)

I also recommend Phil Rowley's book. It's nice because it relates to a lot of the local lakes around bc. The graphics are large and clear. Good section on entomology.

If you want to find it on the net check out www.flyanglersonline. They have the largest collection of flies and tying data I have seen on line.

A great book for those starting out is the "Benchside Introduction to Fly Tying" by Ted Lesson

Trout Flies: A tier's reference by Dave Hughes. Probably the best book I have come across for trout flies.
