Anybody have any tricks on getting scent oils off jig feathers and furs?
Doesn't matter how little scent I use, eventually the feathers/furs becoming
waxy and start to clump together. This virtually eliminates all action in the water.
I am looking for a cleaning method that will not leave any remaining scent.
So most soaps and detergents are out.
BTW, i highly recommend a couple of the jigs made by BentRods.
The "Limit Killer" and "Frisky". Fished those two for a full day and steelies
absolutely smash them.

I remember seeing this somewhere on the Bent Rods site. If you look over the Jig fishing articles, you will probably find it.
I personally just use dish soap and then make sure that it is all rinsed out. I usually tip with bait and hope that it eliminates the smell...but then again I haven't caught any steelies on a jig this year! ???

Unfortunately, if you're using oil based scents, you will need to use a mild dish soap. After washing and thoroughly rinsing with water, dry the jigs using a hair dryer set on low. That will restore the marabou and make it all fluffy again.

If you're going to use scent, apply it to the jig head not the feathers

My advice is to tip your jig with a piece of prawn rather than usinbg scent.

I just ordered so smelly jelly and I have heard americans (who jig fish way more than us) say that putting this waxy goop on the jig head is better than putting liquid drops on the feathers. I ordered 4 difference scents from ebay...quite anxious to try them out.
