Last week at Stave river I caught and released 7 chum. Today no bites at all :( Spent 4.5 hours and tryed 8 different flies from green wolly buggers to salmon flies. Nothing worked. People gear fishing were pulling out fish one by one. LAst week there was many fly fisherman but this week I was the only one. I'm guessing that's it for the season?

I was out on another system and got some chrome fish. Its not over but its getting closer to the end.

Was on the stave this week and the jacks where hitting just about anything. It is not over you just have to search them out. The rivers on the north side of the fraser have fresh coho moving in till the end of november.

Jacks are Coho under 35cm?

usually what leader size do you use to fishing salmon ? 0x or 1x ? 15 lbs or 10 lbs ?

Between 25cm and 35cm

Seasons definately not done.
Bruce, when using my big rod for Springs, Chum I use 2-3ft of 16lbs, for steel, or coho, usually 12-15lbs same 2-3ft.
Birdman, try cutting that leader down a bit, it'll keep your fly down where the tip is.

What he said. With a long leader the leader will be above your line and not in the zone.

I think Birdman is BS'ing ;)

not with that t-14 made by RIO i think, sinks like a rock, has tungsten inside, coated in black stuff. and if u have a weighted fly it gets right into the zone. i dont have a sink tip line, i just have sections of the t-14 starting at 5ft workin to 20ft. Good stuff and i get it for .50 cents a foot. I can use a 9ft leader and get flies down. no split shot.

Yeah Sam's just BS'ing, we didn't talk to him

It ain't over. Picked up two clean Chum for the smoker there last Fri. Counted over 60 Ho's in the oxbows; some red, some clean, and some in between. Had them chasing my flies but no solid hits.
