Title: nicomen slough oct 20
Post by: Big Rob on October 20, 2007, 06:21:18 PM
my neice and her boyfriend came out from vancouver for a day of fishing. they are both new to river fishing so didnt want to take them to the vedder. hooked up the tin boat  and we started fishing about nine am. surprised to see so few fishermen on the slough, the weather must of kept alot of people in doors. the water is a little coloured lots of leaves but fishable. no chum or coho showing.  about one hour into our day my neice hooks and lands  a silver hatchery coho wich makes her day. her first coho in fresh water, it weighed about 8 lb. her boyfriend  hooked and released  a larger wild coho around 10 lb.   it was his first coho. called it a day around 1 pm phoned my wife to heat up her home made soup as we are little cold from sitting ina boat for the morning. two happy kids heading back to vancouver  to fill upthe propane  and plan  a barbeque for friends in town

Nice report!  I was there last weekend about 2 hours before low tide at 7:00am (right by the Dewdney bridge) and the water was really low.  I didn't see any fisherman, nor did I see any fish surfacing so I thought it was too early for the Nicomen Slough and I didn't even bother fishing.  Its good to hear that the Coho are starting to show up!

Hello Islandboy,   we were trollng gold and silver hammered  crocs. A fish on each one, Ive also had good luck with Mepps and Golf Tees.  I usualy fish the slough out of  a boat its a good place  to take friends that are new to the sport as there is always lots of room to fish both from shore and in the boat. One trip I fiished out of my belly boat with my fly rod, used  slime line and a black bead head wolly bugger and had good sucess on cutts. and jacks across from boat launch.  Good luck!

how far up the slough can you go in a boat? i guess it would depend on the tide.
