Title: Vedder - Sept 26th
Post by: Taboo on September 26, 2007, 10:08:04 PM
Arrived late afternoon...vicinity of BCR Bridge.

Still LOTS of pinks about - MAJOR humpies!!!   :P

My bro hooked and landed a BEAUTIFUL wild coho, around 7-8 pounds (on peach floss).  She was released without so much as a picture -- she was anxious to keep on keepin' on!!  There are definitely Coho's there but you still have to find the right water and wade through the masses of pinks....

Stayed until late dusk, played and landed too many pinks but also did end up tagging a really nice Spring Jack (will post pic tomorrow)...  Saw several other really nice Jack's taken.

Also mentionable was the overall ethics of the fishermen about...not one foul hooked fish kept that I saw, just about all fish released were treated with respect and not left to thrash about on the rocks and kicked back in!  No bouncing betty's in play.  WAS THIS ACTUALLY THE VEDDER?

I was out this morning for a couple of hours also. The pinks are just everywhere, and not many fresh ones around. There sure are a lot of aggressive ones though. I hooked 2 jacks that I didn't manage to land, but no signs of coho for me. I did manage to land 4 pinks using pink roe! So much for roe keeping the pinks off.

Also saw a couple of large springs hooked. Saw lots and lots of people long-floating in some of the areas that I passed by. One of these guys landed a very, very nice looking 10+lb hatchery coho which he kept since it was hooked "close to the mouth" ::)

Just hope that the river is still fishable on the weekend.

I have found them to be very greedy on roe.

I guess I must just be lucky :D In 2 outings to the vedder during these past 10 days I've managed to land lots of pinks, a spring jack and 0 coho. Don't even think I had a coho on :-[

Want pinks? adjust your depth. ;D

Want more coho? Use aged roe. ;D
