I haven't done it myself but last year (in June or July) I saw a guy catching a 5lber and I helped him to net the fish. That lake is being heavily fished by the local anglers and their kids, so don't expect for those big ones to remain in there for a couple of months or so!

RM,
Nice ! 5lbs is a nice catchable. About as big as they get around here aside from Trout Lake ;). Everyone says that La Farge gets fished out quick. I say that all the stocked fish that allow themselves to be caught easily are gone but there is a lot of fish in there, they just need more motivation and a higher level of trickery to be enticed to bite. Ya never know, those older fish aren't as dumb as the younger ones and could outwit some of those power bait guys just long enough for a lucky angler to win the prize !

I bagged several broodies from Trout Lake as well as Rice lake a few years back.
Funny thing about the first one from Trout Lake.
I was actually there tuning some crankbaits up for a bass fishing getaway to the states. Sharpening hooks, making sure the lures ran true etc etc then BLAMMO!, 4.5 lb brood stock nailed a 6" long minnow pattern floating rapala jerk bait.
I almost shat myself.
I called my buddy and we had fun there every day for about a week, unti they were fished out, word travels VERY fast. We were dumping them back in the lake, but a lot of people were eating them.
