Hi all,
Alot of the lower Fraser, especially the North Arm, have log booms tied up along shore. With respect to the pinks, I've never really tried to fish the water between the booms and the shore. Generally there is 40-80 feet of water between the shore and where the booms are tied. I rarely see jumpers in that water, but still I've been wondering if that water is at all productive. It could really increase the location possibilities. Could be very snaggy too though
Cheers,

The Salmon generaly don't like to swim under the booms too much. They will follow the shadow of the outside edge more than foreshore. I've caught lots right off the booms when fishing on them in the past, generally don't fish near them though. I do hide behind them in a canoe/kayak when a big wake comes along.

Do not fish off the log booms. Too easy to fall off and get trapped. It's only pinks.

True if your downing brownies big time and don't have your sea legs. But usually you could only get on them when it was low tide. When there used to be lots of the booms around. I remember a few people falling through and drowning, but where they fishing or drinking? :-\ I find it better fishing away from them anyway, overall.

I don't think the OP said he was going to stand on the booms. He's merely asking is it productive to cast from shore towards the booms.
-
That is correct. I have no intention nor desire to stand on the booms. The idea is to be standing on the rocky shoreline, casting into the 40-80 ft gap of water between the shore and the boom

was out on the fraser several nights ago and you wouldnt believe how many pinks were jumping right beside the logs booms

Between the shore and the booms or outside of the booms?

along the south side of the booms (so i guess that is outside the booms :-\)

use 8 lb test and you can rip it out there good ! they like to sit on the upside of the booms by the outside corner , Stug too
