Hello Everyone,
I went for a scouting mission up to Cates Park in North Vancouver. There were a few boats anchored just past (west of) the light/buoy construct, catching several pinks.
Two men were fishing from the beach - using zingers and spinners - catching/hooking into a few.
I would have joined them - my gear was in the trunk - but my tidal license was at home. I'll be out there on Wednesday evening to try my luck.
And no sign of the oil spill from the burst pipeline in Burnaby!! KUDOS TO THOSE TO CLEANED UP THAT MESS!
Question: Are we allowed to use treble hooks in the ocean/saltwater?
Cheers,
Joe

??? hmmmm that was me down there.. no pinks though they were ho's . Are you trying to start a riot??? WTF???? stick to coaching soccer! no trebbles allowed!
-
Just trying to help out anyone who wants to go fishing and have some fun. No harm intended.
Never thought that Cates Park (or any waters) was exclusive to certain people. ???
Thanks for the asked-for advice on the treble hooks.
-
Trebles are legal as long as they are barbless-any assertion to the contrary is arrant nonsense. ::)
Anyone who's ever fished saltwater knows that!
-
In the some-odd 30 years of fishing, I've never used treble hooks, as I think they do more damage to fish through snagging.
That is why I posed the question.
I've searched the Government regulations, but unable to find anything regarding on whether it is legal to use treble hooks in tidal waters.
I would like to know before I consider using them myself.
Thanks for the reply.

If you had kept that to yourself, you may have been able to get in there on wednesday ;)

So now I'm confused....... Are the pinks in at cates or not?????
-
Isn't the idea of fishing reports to help others who want to enjoy fishing. Or should we just ignore posting to fishing reports altogether?

Short answer is YES

You'd be suprised how many people don't actually work to find their own spots... The internet is very powerful; be careful or you'll be fighting the crowds... The choice is up to you.
People posted about pink hot spots last cycle to see how many people turned up, just as a test of the power of internet reports.
It was crazy how the word spread...

Nicole

Good points taken.
I'll be more careful about fishing reports in the future.
Like most people on here, I just want to help others out, so that they can enjoy sportsfishing and conservation.
Cheers,
Joe

Yep lots of pinks right off the windsurfing area at Squamish. ;D ;D
-
Good on you Joe. Some condemn you for your "fishing Report" but I personally would rather read a complete report than read about some guy or guy(s) or girl(s) that want to brag and show pictures.Look what I caught, isnt it chrome isnt it big but cant tell you where I got it. Somewhere on the Vedder, somewhere on the Fraser. Look at all beaks at KWB and limit hole but dont ask about other spots. There mine. But look at these pictures. Who are they posting for? Themselves. See you at Cates! Keep posting Joe.

Hot tip... but I can't say it. Lots of pinks supposedly in F__R_ _R_E_!

Doh! did I let it slip that the pinks are in Flarry Greep?
Sorry!
Don't fish there! No fish! Nobody here but us rabbits! Fishing poles? They're not fishing poles! They're pole vaulting poles! We're practicing our pole vaulting and trying to make it over the creek. Wanna try?!
I bet they won't even find it on the map. It's such a secret spot.

wow - what an educational post.
Thanks for the original report!
I have been around for a while, and have always found this site to be helpful and respectful if everyone uses a little respect and fair guidance.

Don't let people influence you to not report your fishing experiences.
-
I agree its a fishing forum where we are supposed to give our reports don't let all the folks here that black out their pictures and don't want to tell their secret spots get you down.
